Aguilar Battles for Top Spot in Olympic Windsurfing

Mexican windsurfer Mariana Aguilar is currently ranked 16th in the women's iQFoil class at the Paris 2024 Olympics, held in Marseille. The Pan American gold medalist aims to advance to the Final after five more races.

With improved wind conditions in Marseille, Mariana Aguilar Chávez Peón is sailing among the top 16 exponents of the women's iQFoil class of Olympic sailing in Paris 2024, which is being held in the port city in the south of France.

Mariana Aguilar completed four races (from 8 to 11) on Wednesday, which put her in 16th place overall with 114 points, after adding 15, 16, 14 and 10 points individually in the final rounds.

The young sailor, gold medalist at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, is heading into the final stretch of her first Olympic Games competition, which maintains the British Emma Wilson as the points leader.

Five races remain for women's windsurfing, where the best ranked will advance to the Final, while second and third place will compete in the Semifinal and fourth to tenth place continue to the quarterfinals.
