Vacationing in Puerto Vallarta? Don't worry, all its beaches are apt for recreation, according to the analysis of the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris).
The most contaminated beaches are Yelapa and Quimixto, with 181 and 172 enterococci per 100 milliliters, respectively, just below the maximum allowed limit of 200 enterococci.
Sampling at 10 Puerto Vallarta beaches was carried out between July 7 and 18, prior to the start of summer vacations. Las Palmas and Mismaloya beaches also had levels above 100 enterococci, reporting 121 and 119, respectively. The rest of the beaches had the following levels:

Los Muertos Beach 16
Camarones Beach 11
Now, if you like to enjoy the beaches of Nayarit or Colima, all of their beaches are within the norm.
In the case of Colima, Santiago beach, located in Manzanillo, was the one with the highest levels, with 134 enterococci, while in Nayarit, Sayulita I beach, in Banderas Bay, has levels of 159.
Of the 290 beaches analyzed in the country, 98.96 percent met the guidelines established by the World Health Organization to be considered suitable for recreational use.
The Hornos, Suave and Manzanillo beaches, all located in Acapulco, Guerrero, were the only ones that were out of compliance, exceeding the maximum 200 enterococci allowed by the standard.
