The next 30th and 31st of March will take place the professional competition of cycling Le Tour de France 2019 Stage La Paz, which will leave multiple benefits for the tourist industry of Baja California Sur, informed the secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability ( SETUES), Luis Humberto Araiza López.
"The tourism activity in the state capital grows and is strengthened, this is demonstrated by the realization of one of the most important events in the world, which comes to position the destination within the sports segment," said Araiza.
He explained that the participation of two thousand cyclists, between amateurs and professionals, is expected, which will result in an approximate economic loss of 35.4 million pesos, both for the restaurant and hotel sector, as well as for local commerce.
On March 30 will be the long recreational route of 40 kilometers and short of 20 kilometers from 10:00 to 12:45 hours. Unlike March 31, the short stage will be 70 kilometers and the long stage will be 125 kilometers at 07:00 hours, all starting at the La Paz kiosk.
He highlighted the collaboration of the State Tourism Trust (FITUPAZ) and the State Tourism Trust of La Paz (FITUPAZ), as well as the Airport Group of the Pacific and the Association of Hotel and Tourism Companies of La Paz A.C. (EMPRHOTUR), to join efforts in all relevant actions to ensure the arrival and stay of athletes.
"Tour de France is proof that La Paz has the potential to host major international events, as well as being the platform that will consolidate us as a quality destination within the segment of the global sport," added the Secretary.
Similarly, he added that this tourism market leaves high economic spillovers, hence the State Government works to rehabilitate and build spaces that allow the development of professional sporting events, mentioning the complex of the Sports Village.
In addition, participants can enjoy natural beauties, gastronomy, and ecotourism activities such as whale shark sighting or swimming with sea lions, during their stay. Finally, Luis Araiza made clear the commitment to attract renowned events that strengthen the industry.
