The march at the Olympic Games came to an end this Wednesday in the French capital with the innovative mixed relay marathon modality of the specialty, a test that debuted in this event and although Alegna González and Ever Palma finished in fifth place, close to the bronze medal, the Chihuahua native assured that the podium will continue to be a pending account.

After repeating in Paris 2024 her fifth individual place obtained in Tokyo 2020, she detailed that in the next event in Los Angeles she will seek to "get the thorn out", because she considers she has the weapons to climb positions in Olympic results.

"It is a new test that I enjoyed very much, I can say that during the competition I felt drastically different, I always sought to fight for my goal, for that revenge that I wanted to achieve, and we obtained a fifth place, it was a competition that I had never experienced like this, I always went for what I wanted, I had a good team, and we were giving our best," said González.

“I am a very brave person and if I set a goal, I don't give up until I achieve it. I want my Olympic medals, then I say that I'm fed up with this, that I don't want to continue anymore, but I still have that thorn, and I'm not going to leave until I get it,” he added.

For his part, in his third opportunity as an Olympic athlete, Ever Palma highlighted what this new test represents for the race walkers, because although the goal of a podium was not achieved, he explained what it meant to share the route with Alegna González.

“It's a new experience, the team had never seen itself in the Olympic Games in race walking, working with someone else is something innovative, I liked it a lot, I have a super partner who couldn't have asked for more, we gave our all, and I'm grateful to represent Mexico. I gave my all, we knew what we were coming for, to give our all and that's what we did,” Palma said.

After the 42.195 kilometers, both marchers, who are still concentrated in the National Center for the Development of Sports Talents and High Performance (CNAR), agreed that the important thing was to enjoy the route, trust in teamwork and gain such important experience at the Olympic level.

“I feel happy because it is a competition that suits me, I had a moment of rest and relaxation, I enjoyed it and tried to do my best. It is about enjoying the competition, I was different from in individual because I always demand a lot from myself, and now I enjoyed it, each competition is a new opportunity to obtain the result,” shared González.
