The Internet of Things (IoT) is the option to give an extra to business, that added value that "changes everything" and makes a company competitive compared to others and is today one of the careers that should be developed and for which young engineers should bet for its importance and growth in the market.

This was mentioned by Miguel Vázquez Grajales, an Expert, and Academic in the Engineering area of the Autonomous University of Guadalajara (UAG).

The internet of things refers to the connectivity, through the network, that exists between electronic devices and objectives of daily life so that various actions can be performed remotely, get data and monitor objects, people, and processes.

"From your device, you can control, monitor and use tools, buy, sell, know temperature status, quality, color, know information and use that information to your benefit, have immediate feedback; the IoT is that thanks to the data and your internet connection you can do tasks that, otherwise, you would have to do in person and not remotely, which saves money, effort, even, resources that can be used in another way," he said.

In short, it's all about making life easier for consumers, customers, and users.
It also triggers creativity, the free market, and possibilities for new ideas and uses of products and technologies. This has brought many benefits in the industry, business, education, and health, and in Jalisco, the bet is on the domestic sector and manufacturing.

"There is talk of Industry 5.0, a connected industry that allows remotely produce and control processes, prevent problems, shorten times. Security for the home, for monitoring streets and companies, with cameras connected to the internet is one of those examples, also the use and programming of household appliances from the cell phone, forest temperature monitoring, smartwatches and more", he added.

Businesses that need to go out

Remote connectivity could benefit the following industries if it is understood that, through or with electronic devices, problems can be solved, therefore, there is a future for those who want to design technology and electronics in businesses such as:

Services and logistics: from payment with cards or codes without the person having to go to the establishment, to monitoring package shipping and customer service automatically. For example: monitoring customers in gyms, accompanying shoppers in stores, and even services for obtaining visas and other options.

Finance: teach, manage finances and make payments from your device for various services, also automatically. Also, monitor the market and perform market operations.

Education: teach classes, teaching, courses, and training, all remotely.

Environment: control, know and monitor temperature, pollution, and even cleaning services and prevention of natural disasters or man-made disasters.

Home and comfort: monitoring, controlling and managing household appliances, knowing the temperature of a home, lighting, security, cleaning robots, and other uses such as security, with the monitoring of cameras, locks, and doors.

Health and wellness: it consists of making medical consultations remotely and promoting healthy lifestyles, through applications ranging from nutrition, and fitness monitoring to training.

"In all these fields there is opportunity in a country that is increasingly connected and with a market that is more and more eager for technology that makes their lives easier. The idea is to think about what we can solve, what we can improve, how we can improve the daily lives of others," he concluded.
