What happened next is a chilling tale pieced together from the scene and a twisted letter López left behind. According to his self-serving account, the confrontation began Saturday, March 22nd, at the home on Paseos de las Maravillas street. López claimed he confronted Ana Karen, a mother originally from Jalisco, who begged for another chance. He refused.
López alleges that Ana Karen then retreated to the bathroom and shot herself dead. But instead of calling for help, López embarked on a gruesome task. He allegedly dismembered her body and crammed the pieces into a 200-liter drum to hide the evidence.
In a particularly cold-hearted move, authorities revealed López told Ana Karen’s young daughter – now tragically orphaned at just 11 years old – that her mother had simply gone back to Jalisco with relatives and wouldn't be returning.
Days ticked by until Tuesday, when López apparently decided his sick charade was up. He penned a letter detailing his version of events – claiming Ana Karen committed suicide and he merely disposed of the body. He then dialed 911, reporting the "apparent suicide" himself.
Municipal Police officers, likely sensing something was deeply wrong, raced to the scene with emergency codes flashing. As the sirens wailed closer, López knew the jig was up. Hearing the approaching patrol cars, he decided to check out permanently, ending his own life with a single gunshot, authorities said.
