José Aguado Shines in 110-Meter Hurdles Victory
José Eduardo Aguado Peña, a 19-year-old sprinter from Nuevo León, won gold and set a record in the 110-meter hurdles at the CONADE 2024 Nationals in Jalisco with a time of 13.77 seconds. This achievement prepares him for the U-20 World Athletics Championships in Lima, Peru.
In the resumption of athletics activities at the CONADE 2024 Nationals, José Eduardo Aguado Peña from New Leon shone on the track of the Revolución Sports Center in Jalisco after winning the gold medal with a record in the 110-meter event with 99 cm hurdles in the Sub category -twenty.
The 19-year-old sprinter crossed the finish line in a time of 13.77 seconds, breaking the mark of César Ramírez from Sinaloa, who in 2012 set a record of 13.78 seconds.
“I felt very good in the race, at first, I was very focused on going first, but then I let go and everything went well. For me, being in this competition is a learning experience, another step in my career that makes me prepare better,” he said.
With this result, José Eduardo Aguado assures that it is a good parameter for the U-20 World Athletics Championships to be held next August in Lima, Peru, a competition for which he has the qualifying marks in the 110 and 400 meter hurdles events. .
“At this moment I have set the goal of the U-20 World Cup, and I am interested in getting experience on this track and with great competitors that this event always brings together to get to the event in Peru as best as I can, I have prepared more, and my record shows it to play a good role,” he commented.
For the athlete, this edition represents his third experience at the CONADE Nationals and after starring in the 110-meter event with 99 cm hurdles, on Thursday, June 13, he will compete in the 400-meter hurdles 91 cm.
“The 400 hurdles is my main test, but the 110 meters always gives me a lot of confidence to get the frequency and have that momentum and speed that the 400 always needs and demands of you,” he explained.
