Leon will be Mexico's romance destination
In conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism, Guanajuato capital, San Miguel de Allende and León have joined forces to promote romance tourism.
León will bid to be the romantic tourist destination in Mexico, in conjunction with the Guanajuato Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR), Guanajuato Capital, and San Miguel de Allende, according to the director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV), Ana María Valenzuela Gómez.
"We are going with the Ministry of Tourism in conjunction with Guanajuato, Leon, and San Miguel sheltered by the state SECTUR, the three destinations we join together to optimize resources to promote our destination jointly, we will have presentations with meeting planners, organizers where they are shown the offer of the 3 destinations," she said.
They have been meeting with different wedding planners, to promote León and Guanajuato as the best destination for romance, especially because of the installed capacity to attend tourists. At the moment the Convention and Visitors Bureau in León is reinventing itself, training in all areas of tourism, especially with other national and international bureaus, so that León will have greater diversity in its events.
"We are reinventing ourselves, especially in the area of training, seeing how other destinations are working, I belong to the Association of Convention Bureaus of Latin America at the Caribbean level and we recently went to Mexico City, we had an assembly and we saw how Latin America has been reactivating each one in their destinations," she said.
The city has great potential for Romance Tourism since it has churches of great history such as the Expiatory Temple, and the Metropolitan Cathedral, among others. Romance tourism is being promoted for León to become a good destination for weddings, which benefits many guests that can be brought from abroad.
The hotels, restaurants, and ceremonial venues are quite attractive for all the guests of the bride and groom, and above all, there are spaces for them to be attended with all the sanitary measures. Guanajuato is currently considered one of the states that stands out internationally in romance tourism, since it has 8 romantic destinations, such as San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato Capital, Leon, San Jose Iturbide, Mineral de Pozos, Dolores Hidalgo, Jalpa de Canovas, and Salvatierra.
In 2019, the state visitor profile of the Guanajuato Tourism Observatory, 270 thousand people came to the state for romance tourism, of which 43 thousand were of international origin. For romantic events, Guanajuato has more than 100 wedding planners, more than 300 wedding venues, more than 350 hotels and 11 thousand room nights, and about 4 thousand tour companies.
There are also more than 3,000 tourism companies, including wedding planners, that have registered with the Guanajuato Sano Distinctive, which establishes the best prevention and protection practices for the correct reopening of services in tourist destinations.
