Lorenzo Macías Claims Silver in China's Shooting Showdown
Lorenzo Macías secures silver at the 2024 Carrera Shooting World Cup in China, clocking 10:18.97 minutes. Amidst fierce competition, his triumph marks a prelude to the World Modern Pentathlon Championship, reinforcing Mexico's prowess on the global stage.
The Mexican Lorenzo Macías won the silver medal in the men's final of the World Shooting Race Championship held in Zhengzhou, China, with a time of 10:18.97 minutes, in a competition that represents the prelude to the World Modern Pentathlon Championship which defines the last places available for Paris 2024.
The New Leon native came only behind local Shuai Luo, who clocked 9:57.91 minutes, while third position went to Zhenfeng Liu, also from China, with 10:21.53 minutes.
For his part, Manuel Padilla finished in fifth place, after registering a time of 10:24.97 minutes, in a competition that had the support of the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE).
"The truth is I'm very happy, I feel happy to see that all the work of a year paid off; however, we still cannot let our guard down, since tomorrow is the mixed relay of running and shooting and starting Monday, we will start the activity now in the Modern Pentathlon World Championship and, in that, as in tomorrow's relay, we will look for the best possible result to exalt Mexico on a global level,” shared Lorenzo Macías, after receiving his medal.
This Sunday the mixed relay final will take place, in which Mariana Arceo from Jalisco and Lorenzo Macías will participate, who in the 2023 World Shooting Race, in Bath, Great Britain, added silver alongside Tamara Vega.
The competitions in the World Modern Pentathlon Championship will also begin this Sunday, with the preliminaries of the women's and men's relays.
