The Mazatlan Fest will take place from April 18 to 20 along Avenida Del Mar and will be the first time that the event takes place during Holy Week.
The event is organized by the municipal government and aims to attract family tourism, in addition to allowing families who lack sufficient economic resources to enjoy a free evening, said Mayor Luis Guillermo Benítez.
On April 18 and 19, Mazatlan Fest concerts will be offered in four pavilions that will be located along Del Mar Avenue. Different musical genres will be offered, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. On the 20th there will be a closing ceremony on Bahia Avenue, after a parade of illuminated cars, which will start at 6:30 p.m.There will also be a parking lot in front of the Mazatlan Aquarium, with 420 drawers.
During Mazatlan Fest, bathrooms will be installed along the aforementioned avenue and will be free. Transportation service will also be offered so that people can move to events without having to take their vehicles out of the parking lot.
Karen Lizárraga, in charge of human resources of a hotel located on the aforementioned street, commented that you still can not have an opinion about the festival since the Mazatlan Fest event had never been organized during Holy Week.
She added that any celebration that is for benefit of Mazatlecos and tourists is positive, however, stressed that it is not known what will happen.
Some of the managers of small hotels on Del Mar Avenue accepted that they were unaware of the event that will take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of Holy Week, although they will be the closest to the celebration.
