The calendar of the iQFoil sailing class in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games suffered a change, since the start, scheduled for July 28th where four races would be held, was postponed to this Monday due to the lack of wind; however, the weather conditions only allowed to carry out two.

Considering the outlook for the competition, the national team's Mariana Aguilar Chávez Peón assured that her spirits are not drooping, as the conditions are not within her control, but she was enthusiastic about becoming an Olympic athlete.

“We are improving, today was the second day of regatta, yesterday we did not compete due to lack of wind and today was also complicated by the same, but we managed to do two races of the four planned, we continue giving everything and tomorrow the weather looks promising, there are still four days of competition, so there is still a lot left,” she commented.

With two regattas completed, the Pan American champion in Santiago 2023 is in 12th place out of 24 competitors with a total of 23 points, where Great Britain's Emma Wilson leads the competition.

“This Olympic debut tastes great. We are all ready, now what has been missing has been wind, but I am very excited about this week and everything that is the Games,” she commented.

“We have been waiting for the wind, but nothing. What we have to focus on is adapting as much as possible and adjusting the sails as best we can,” she added.

Mariana Aguilar will return this Tuesday to the waters of Marseille searching for continuing with her Olympic competition, so she said that the mood and confidence must be kept intact.

“There are still three days of qualifying and another one of finals, there is still a lot at stake; I feel excited, I trained a lot this last year in Marseille, it is a very changeable track, you can expect any conditions, but there is a lot of excitement to represent Mexico, it is the most incredible thing”, she commented.
