Mexican Rowers Conclude Olympic Journey in 10th Place
Mexican rowing duo Carballo and López finished 10th in the lightweight double scull at Paris 2024 Olympics, showcasing determination in the B final despite not medaling.
The national rowing teams Miguel Ángel Carballo Nieto and Alexis Bladimir López García, closed their participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in tenth place overall in the men's lightweight double scull event after competing in the B final that defined places seven to 12 at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.
The Mexican duo took fourth place in this final after clocking 6:25.84 minutes, the French team took first place with 6:19.73 minutes, followed by Spain and Belgium, in second and third place, respectively, while Ukraine took fifth place and Argentina sixth.
In the A final where the Olympic medals were awarded, the Irish duo Fintan McCarthy and Paul O'Donovan won gold with a time of 6:10.99 minutes, while Stefano Oppo and Gabriel Soares from Italy won silver (6:13.33), and the Greeks Antonios Papakonstantinou and Petros Gkaidatzis were bronze (6:13.44).
Switzerland, Norway and the Czech Republic finished fourth, fifth and sixth in the A final, in the order given. In the C final where places 13 to 16 were determined, the Chilean duo took the classification with 6:28.00 minutes, followed by Japan, Uzbekistan and Egypt.
