Mexican Sprinter Morán Books Spot in 400m Semifinals
Paola Morán qualified for the 400m semifinals at Paris 2024 with a strong finish. Despite a slow start, she overtook Chile's Weil to secure third place. Mexico's sprinter will compete in the semifinals on August 7th and aims for the final on August 9th.
With a great finish, the Mexican sprinter Paola Morán qualified for the semifinal of the 400 meters at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, after registering 51.04 seconds and staying in third place in the third qualifying heat.
The Jalisco native saw activity in a group where only the three best placed achieved their pass to the next round, while the rest were installed in the next round; the British Amber Anning (49.68 seconds) and the Dutch Lieke Klaver (49.96 seconds) were the other classified from the same heat.
Despite not having an explosive start, Paola Morán was strong in the final stretch as is her style to leave behind the Chilean Martina Weil (51.15 seconds), who seemed to be going to take the last ticket to the semifinal, but who succumbed to the comeback of the national athlete.
The 400-meter semifinal will be held on August 7 at 12:45 p.m. (Central Mexico Time), where the best sprinters in the world will meet to compete for qualification for the grand final, scheduled for August 9 at 12:00 p.m. (TCM).
