Mexico started their participation in the Men's Indoor Volleyball Pan American Cup, held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with a victory after defeating Chile 3-2 (25-22, 25-23, 19-25, 15-25 and 15-13).

Carlos Schwanke's pupils were dominant in the first two sets; however, the Andean team recovered and came from behind to even the scoreboard with two sets for each side, so it was played in sudden death, where the Aztecs were able to give the final blow to their opponents.

“Unbelievable, we are here to develop a group. We stayed aggressive every minute on the court, except in the third and fourth sets, where we lowered the intensity a little, but we came back in the fifth and were able to capitalize the victory, which is very positive for us,” said the national coach.

The next challenge for the Mexican volleyball players will be the United States, who also triumphed in their debut against Puerto Rico by 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 29-31 and 25-18).

The tournament held in Dominican territory is part of the qualifying process for the NORCECA Continental Championship 2025, the Pan American Cup in 2025 and the Pan American Games in 2027.
