El Mencho's financial strategist 'El Chopa' killed in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco
According to military intelligence, Saul Alejandro "N" "El Chopa" was linked to the murder of the former governor of Jalisco, Jorge Aristoteles Sandoval.
According to the National Guard, Saul Alejandro "N" El Chopa, a lieutenant of the Jalisco Cartel - New Generation (CJNG), who was in charge of the financial coordination of Nemesio Oceguera Cervantes, El Mencho, was killed during an exchange of fire with members of the military when they repelled an attack by this individual in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
According to military intelligence, Saul Alejandro "N" El Chopa, was linked to the murder of the former governor of Jalisco, Jorge Aristoteles Sandoval Diaz; in addition to being identified as a lieutenant of the CJNG, a generator of violence with national and international influence.
Among the functions he performed in the criminal organization, El Chopa coordinated the financial aspect of Nemesio Oceguera Cervantes, El Mencho, leader of the criminal organization, as well as the supply of weapons and tactical equipment to the criminal cells with presence in the states of Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Zacatecas and San Luís Potosí of the aforementioned organization.
While carrying out preventive intelligence work in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, considered to be an area of high influence of the CJNG, National Guard personnel were attacked with firearms from a private vehicle.
Upon repelling the aggression, the National Guard personnel observed that an individual got out of the attacking vehicle, had a gunshot wound, for which reason he was given first aid and was taken to a health facility located in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, and was later identified as Saul Alejandro "N" El Chopa.
Due to the facts in flagrante delicto, Saul Alejandro "N" El Chopa was arrested, and the competent authorities were informed of his death; it should be noted that medical personnel who provided the corresponding attention were informed of his death.
Similarly, to bring the other detainee to the attention of the competent authorities, a helicopter transport reaction force was organized using a UH-60 helicopter belonging to the Mexican Air Force to transfer him to the delegation of the Attorney General's Office in Guadalajara, Jalisco, for the appropriate legal purposes.
These types of actions implemented by the Mexican Government have substantially weakened the cartel's structure, affecting its logistical, operational, and financial base in the last three months; with the arrest of Saúl Alejandro "N" El Chopa, the loyal and institutional commitment of the Mexican Army and Air Force, as well as the National Guard, to watch over and safeguard the wellbeing of citizens, contributing with the Mexican Government to guarantee the peace and security of Mexicans, is reaffirmed.
