Arrest of Vctor Hugo N "El Chaparro", a Leader of the Gulf Cartel
Victor Hugo "N", alias "El Chaparro", leader of the Gulf Cartel, was captured by federal forces this Sunday morning, was reported.
Following the wave of violence that took place this Sunday in Matamoros, the arrest of Víctor Hugo "N", alias "El Chaparro", leader of the Gulf Cartel in the aforementioned city, along with three of his alleged collaborators, was reported.
Federal forces indicated that Víctor Hugo N. is identified as the son of José Alfredo Cárdenas Guillén, alias "El Contador", who was arrested on February 27 in Mexico City.
The actions of the federal forces generated from the early hours of Sunday morning approximately 16 blockades throughout the city, using burned tires, sticks, and trucks both cargo and passenger, as well as some cars.
Meanwhile, the population had to take shelter because several pick-up trucks with armed men on board were circulating in the streets.
A total of 60 elements of the Special Forces of the Mexican Army are guarding the cities of Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo, and Matamoros, Tamaulipas due to the outbreaks of violence.
